Fred Hollows Foundation @ BAHS
The Fred Hollows Foundation visit Bourke.
It's been 40 years since the beginning of the Fred Hollows Foundation and part of this celebration was for the foundation and the family of Fred to return to Bourke to reminisce and pay respects to the fantastic work and legacy of the Fred Hollows Foundation.
BAHS hosted a yarn up session to reflect on the legacy of the foundation and many stories were told.
Gabbi Hollows reflected on Fred's life and many local community people reflected on their experiences with Fred and Gabbi.
Fred Hollows, was an internationally renowned eye surgeon and humanitarian. Fred didn’t believe in charity, he firmly believed in teaching, supporting and empowering people to help themselves. He worked tirelessly to end avoidable blindness in Indigenous Australia and around the world – and while it didn’t happen in his time, it will in ours.
